The bones of six million people stacked in the old quarry tunnels, twenty metres down. BOOK WEEKS AHEAD - only 200 people are allowed in at a time and the walk-up queue is hours or hopeless. 131 steps down, 112 up, no lift, 14C throughout. Not for the claustrophobic or for young children.

Closed on Monday. Plan around it — this is the single most common wasted morning.
