You travel by klotok - a wooden houseboat you sleep on the roof of - up a black-water river to feeding platforms where rehabilitated Bornean orangutans come in. PRICED PER BOAT for the whole party rather than per person, which makes it far better value for a family than it first looks. Two or three days is the usual trip. Camp Leakey is the research station Birute Galdikas founded in 1971.
