What to know

A temple on a cliff 70m above the sea, and the Kecak fire dance performed in an amphitheatre beside it as the sun goes down - a hundred men chanting with no instruments at all. A sarong and sash are required to enter and are lent or hired at the gate. Menstruating women are asked not to enter Balinese temples, which is stated on signs at the entrance. THE MONKEYS HERE STEAL GLASSES, PHONES AND HATS deliberately and trade them back for fruit; take nothing loose. Buy the dance ticket early, it sells out.
