THE CATHEDRAL ITSELF IS FREE; everything else - dome, campanile, baptistery, crypt, museum - is on a single pass. The dome climb is 463 steps with no lift, a compulsory timed reservation, and no bags. Not for anyone claustrophobic: the upper stairs run between the two shells and lean inward.
