What to know

The continental shelf runs close inshore here, which is why blue whales - the largest animal that has ever lived - are seen from Mirissa more reliably than almost anywhere. Season is roughly November to April; there is little point outside it. Choose an operator that keeps the 100m distance rule; several do not, and the harassment is well documented. Take seasickness tablets before you board, not after.

Minimum age 6.

When to go

The planner warns of wet in April, May, October, November. Outside those months it says nothing, which is the point — a warning that fires every day is one nobody reads.
