What to know

FREE, and funded entirely by donations - it has been under construction since 2004. A 45m white marble Buddha on a hilltop with views over both coasts. Shoulders and knees covered for everyone, shoes off inside. Sarongs are lent or hired at the gate and visitors are turned away daily for dress. Sarongs are lent. The road up is steep and narrow.
