UNESCO listed, about 5,000 years old, and TIMED-ENTRY - walk-ups are frequently turned away in summer. THE ORDINARY TICKET KEEPS YOU ON A PATH ABOUT TEN METRES FROM THE STONES; going inside the circle requires a separate Stone Circle Experience booked well ahead for dawn or dusk. Free to English Heritage members, and to Historic Scotland members after the first year through partial reciprocity - see finding 2. You can also see the stones free from the public footpath across the field, which is further away but costs nothing.
