A glacial lake at 3,750m an hour from Gangtok, frozen in winter. A PROTECTED AREA PERMIT IS REQUIRED and takes a day to arrange in Gangtok; NATHU LA, on the Chinese border, needs a further permit, is closed to foreign nationals entirely and shut some days of the week even for Indians.
