The building modern architects come to Japan to see - a 17th-century villa of absolute restraint, with a stroll garden designed to reveal itself one framed view at a time. ENTRY IS BY ADVANCE RESERVATION ONLY and the allocation is small. Turning up on the day does not work. Guided tour only, in Japanese with an English audio guide. Under-12s are not admitted.
