2,300m up the mountain by road, and as far as most people go. FREE to visit, but CLIMBING THE YOSHIDA TRAIL NOW CARRIES A FEE and a daily cap on numbers, introduced to control overcrowding. THE CLIMBING SEASON IS ABOUT EARLY JULY TO EARLY SEPTEMBER and outside it the route is closed, unstaffed and genuinely dangerous. The access road shuts to private cars at the busiest times.
