What to know

The Great Buddha Hall - the largest wooden building in the world for twelve centuries, even at two-thirds of its original size - holding a 15m bronze Buddha cast in 752. UNESCO listed. There is a hole in one pillar the size of the Buddha's nostril; children squeeze through it for good luck.
