Air Itam · George Town & Penang island · Malaysia
★★★★☆ Museum & culture
No admission charge for anyone. Parking or transport may still cost.
The largest Buddhist temple in Malaysia, stacked up a hillside with a seven-storey pagoda and a 30m bronze Kuan Yin. Free, with small charges for the pagoda climb and the inclined lift. Extraordinary during Chinese New Year when the whole hill is lit.

The planner warns of wet in April, October, November. Outside those months it says nothing, which is the point — a warning that fires every day is one nobody reads.
