What to know

FREE if you drive yourself away from town lights and watch the forecast. Northern lights need darkness and clear sky at once. SEASON IS ROUGHLY SEPTEMBER TO EARLY APRIL - from May to August the sky never gets dark enough and nothing is visible at all. Nothing can be promised on any given night. Most operators offer a free second attempt rather than a refund. The aurora forecast on vedur.is is the one locals use.
