What to know

The split gate with Mount Agung framed between the halves. THE FAMOUS REFLECTION DOES NOT EXIST - it is made by a man holding a mirror under a phone, which everyone discovers on arrival. THE QUEUE FOR THE PHOTO RUNS TO SEVERAL HOURS: you take a number and wait. It is a genuine and important temple with six more above it that almost nobody climbs to. A sarong and sash are required to enter and are lent or hired at the gate. Menstruating women are asked not to enter Balinese temples, which is stated on signs at the entrance.
