THE WALK IS FREE once you are up the mountain. Five lakes, three of which reflect the Matterhorn on a still morning - Stellisee is the famous one. About 9km, mostly downhill from Blauherd. SNOW LIES ON IT UNTIL LATE JUNE and returns in October.

When to go
