Long, quiet west-facing beaches and a far slower pace than Phi Phi. MUCH OF THE ISLAND SHUTS FROM MAY TO OCTOBER - resorts close, ferries reduce, and some years the island is very quiet indeed. The old town on the east coast is stilted and charming.
