The quieter of the two glaciers. FREE, but the valley access road and track have been repeatedly closed by rockfall and flooding - check before driving in. Same retreat, same helicopter-only ice access. SANDFLIES are a genuine problem on the West Coast and in Fiordland - not a nuisance but a trip-shaping one. Cover up and take repellent.
